A few months ago, Trixie was doing just fine. She drove great, got a new front bumper, the boyfriend was even starting to paint her pink & glitter her up. Then we were driving in traffic on the highway and she just wouldn't go. Her transmission is dead. I've agonized a lot over what to do about Trixie. It like her style of car, a 2 door with a sunroof & she could be really fancy & cool, if we ever got her all dolled up in pink, glitter & Hello Kitty. Unfortunately, the transmission repair is a couple of grand & I just don't have that kind of cash laying around. If I sell her, I can use the money to buy a car with a ridiculously good warranty & while I'll then be making payments, I won't have the fear of large expenses & what's going to break next. I think this might be the end...

And another trip to the ER for Trixie
Recently, Trixie was driving me to Starbucks and ran over a pickaxe. This resulted in a required trip to the ER (Garrett Automotive in Kennesaw, GA). Thankfully, they took great care of her and she's back on the road again, still a mottled mess of fiberglass and bondo and Hello Kitty bandaid stickers but who cares. Now the question of "Who leaves a pickaxe in the middle of the damn road?!" will haunt me forever. Does this mean that Trixie had some sort of beef against construction workers? Maybe a star crossed lover left it there so she'd fine it and know she was missed? Yes, I am insane.

I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow... the heat at you.
Maybe that's not the traditional story of the Big Bad Wolf, but that's what Trixie said today. Last summer her blower motor (or maybe the resister) died and while the AC was cold, and the heat was hot, neither could get to the cabin, unless you were driving over 60mph. The summer was hot without AC but I enjoyed the drive with the sunroof open and windows down. Winter however has not been as much fun. It's gotten pretty damn cold here in GA and we're not even in January yet. Thankfully a good friend helped us out and Trixie can now huff & puff again. In the past 2 weeks, we've got an oil change, airfilter change, new front passenger tire, new blower motor & resister, cabin air filter, transmission fluid and brake pads too. It's a good thing as we're taking a trip to Charleston, SC and then to St. Pete, FL for Christmas. Lots of miles ahead and Trixie will take good care of us.

You ain't just whistlin' Trixie...
Actually I'm kinda hopeful that's all it is. Trixie has developed a strange whistle. It's intermittent and doesn't seem to be causing an issue. I am wondering if it's just that her front bumper needs to be replaced. After driving back from a trip to the mountains we've learned that her headlights need to be adjusted a bit too. I guess the new bumpers are getting moved up on the list... I need an oil change, again, wish that was a once & done thing. It seems like the blower motor has stopped working too. We have heat/AC but with nothing to blow it into the car, it doesn't really work, unless you're driving really fast down the highway. Like over 80... not that we'd ever do that. :-D So my dear amazing wonderful boyfriend is going to look at the information I've collected online & decide if this is something he'll attempt to replace or if we take Trixie into see Garrett Automotive. What do you think? Would you attempt to replace the blower motor yourself or take your car into a shop?

I can see the road before me!
Today my awesome boyfriend installed Trixie's new headlights. They're projector headlights. They're very shiny & are supposed to help me see better, not that I do much driving in the dark, but I'm trying anything helps. Here's a picture!

It's like Christmas for Trixie!
Her new wheels arrived in the mail today. There was an almost 2 month delay (because they were discontinued) but they were worth the wait!

It's the waiting game...
It's the waiting game, it's the game we're in & the waiting game is my favorite game... no wait, no it's not. I actually really hate the waiting game. If patience is a virtue I am severely lacking. What am I awaiting? WHEELS & TIRES!!!
Found a great deal on the most awesome white wheels with pink trim, and nice new tires from Discount Tire Direct, unfortunately the wheels are discontinued. The maker Konig Wheels says they have them still but they're in China. My wheels are now on a slow boat from China. *sigh*
I know I will love them when they get here. I know Trixie will drive better with new tires and will look better with new wheels. This part of her transformation from a basic Honda Civic to the perfect car for me is the hardest. The waiting game will be the death of me.
